This activity will end right where it started.
Make your way to First Landing State Park where this tour begins, and start by getting fitted with an easy-to-use, sit-on-top kayak. The boats are well suited to even beginning boaters, and after a short briefing on kayak safety and technique, you'll be ready to launch your kayak into the Chesapeake Bay.

Follow a route along the shoreline that’s especially good for sighting dolphins, which travel along the coast in small pods. Enjoy the cooler temperatures of the early evening, and spot some of the diverse seabirds that thrive in the Chesapeake Bay.

Paddle as far as the Cape Henry Lighthouses, a pair of historic signal lights that guide vessels into the Chesapeake Bay. See the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel light up in the evening sun as you make the return trip to the beach at First Landing State Park, and pause to photograph the coast in the warm, evening light. This 2-hour kayak tour concludes at First Landing State Park.

Enjoyed being on the water. I was disappointed that we didn’t see the dolphins but I know that is nature and no way to prevent that. I felt the cost was rather expensive.

Thank you for the feedback. We are so sorry you did not see dolphins. Our price has remained the same for the last 15 years despite the massive inflation in our country. Open ocean paddles require very experienced tour guides and a lot of manual labor. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed your time on the water, but please don't give us a 3 star review because you did not see the dolphins. We are very clear in all of our literature that it is not a guarantee.

My particular tour only saw one dolphin, but it is made very clear sightings are not guaranteed. None the less, it was a beautiful day to kayak and we had a good. Would absolutely do it again.

The guides were great! Very knowledgeable about kayaking, the area, and dolphins. We saw SO MANY dolphins! We were able to just stay in the bay because of how many were there. The water was calm and beautiful.

We saw dolphins! The kayak crew were fun and friendly. They explained how to maneuver the kayaks and where we would be going. When dolphins were spotted, they alerted everyone so we could all enjoy. Great trip (and nice little workout!)!

The tour guides were wonderful and very personable and knowledgeable about the area. We saw 2 dolphins at the start of the tour. Be aware that if you are 2 in a group you will be on a double kayak unless specified which wasn't a big deal for us. Overall great views and a nice activity
