Day Trip to Lucerne and Engelberg from Zurich

Wish were had been told that Everything in Engleberg is closed on Mondays! It was hard to be dropped in a village that was closed and told we would be picked up in 3 hours! Or we could pay 200.00 more dollars and have a tour up the mountain.

Lucerne city was stunning and Engelbert was beautiful too with its mountain panoramic views. Pity weather broke down when there, but otherwise enjoyable trip

Tour not scheduled before to Mount Titlis. Snow and glaciers. Thrilling experience! Nothing else to add!

Drive to Lucerne was beautiful, but only got one hour to spend in Lucerne. What they don't tell you is there are two groups on the bus, one goes to Mt. Titlis and the people who book this Engelberg only tour are dropped off in town for hours with no guide or anything to do. Walked several laps around town, stores and restaurants were closed. Both the your guide before leaving the bus and the people in the visitors center said there isn't much to do. There's a monestary there that isn't open to the public until right before the bus picks you up. And the "cheese factory" is the size of an average fast food restaurant with just a TV showing how cheese is made. Could spend about 30 minutes in town and see it all. I ended up finding a cafe to have a croissant and a water. The rest I just walked lap after lap around the ghost town in the snow until the bus came. If you don't want to waste a day, either pay a lot more to go up Mt. Titlis or just book the all day Lucerne tour. This one was a waste of money.

This trip is very very bad, viator leave us in Engelberg for 3,5 hours, there is no something interesting in Engelberg, 1 hour is more than enough, it would be better if you delete this tour

Very good , organized tour. Got to see a a few attractions in a limited amount of time. I would highly recommend it

don't forget to go on your own taking the cable car BRUNNI-BAHNEN enjoying the breath taking views while tasting the local bear with a meal ,, was an excellent trip

Compact tour of Lucerne and Engelbert. Perfect for those who have limited time in Zurich.Guide Cathrin and Driver Feliciano were fantastic.

Absolutely stunning views. A great getaway and well worthwhile! A great way to see the alps with an amazing drive up the mountain!

This was by far the worst tour I took on this trip. Massive bus with almost 4 different tour groups, so you can imagine the amount of overlap and randomness in terms of what is covered. Our first stop was at Lucerne where we barely had ONE hour to cover a bustling combination of old and new city, with gorgeous bridges and eat! Obviously we couldn't cover much and rushed back for pick up. The first set of tour group remained at Lucerne for the rest of their tour This was for the full day at Lucerne tour. The rest of us headed off to the next dropoff at Stanserhorn. On our way to the next dropoff, Mt Titlis, the guide announced that the weather up the mountain was good and things were OK, since the state out of the window was not promising - rainy and foggy. We didn't hear anything for Engelberg. Next dropoff was almost all the guests except 3 of us, along with the driver. Along with just one map in hand, we got off the bus. The driver didn't speak much English and apart from the guide telling us about a cheese factory and monastery, there was no other information. It was a horrible weather with pouring rain. We headed to the nearest cheese factory, which turned to be a single glass display case in the middle of a store where one single lady was arranging cheese. The factory details were printed on a piece of paper in different languages - we were done in 10 minutes. The monastery was closed to the public and the tour wasn't available until 3 hours later. We also discovered it was an additional charge to tour and the tour was only available in German. Since we didn't understand German, we headed to the church and even that was closed. We walked into the village and voila, everything was closed. The stores, eating places, nothing was open. We spent 3 hours walking around in a closed town with NOTHING to do in a miserable weather. The only stores that were open were Co-op and Migros, which is where we managed to get some lunch. We were back in the bus, again waiting for all the different tour groups to be picked up along the way and had the worst experience of all. After the tour, we contacted the company and they refused to refund for the right proportion of the day that we wasted and charged us for a full day Lucerne tour, when we only got 1 measly hour to look around. The guide failed to give us options to decide. If we had known Engelberg was mostly closed, we could have chosen to remain at Lucerne or at least proceed to Mt Titlis. It was a real ripoff and colossal waste of time. But of course the tour company doesn't agree with that. I will definitely not recommend this for anyone.
